I don't think I mentioned this, but my ex-husband told the kids and I this past weekend that he and his girlfriend are getting married! The girls are OK with it; they weren't 100% enthused, and said that it's different having a step-mom than a step-dad, which they're used to, but they both have a decent relationship with the girlfriend and it will be fine.
That said, it made me think about my own marriage and the idea, again, of contract vs. covenant, and what my husband and I want from our relationship. It's really renewed my desire to have regular conversations with him about our expectations and needs.
Love is a good thing.
